Scott has won numerous national and regional awards for acting, writing and directing. His play The American Black Box was the 2007 IRAM award winner for Best Director. In 2005 his production of Melissa Leilani Larson's play An Experiment In Sainthood won Best New Play and Best Set Design in the Iowa New Play Festival. In 2002 his production of Erin Pushman's play Moonshine won three community awards for Best Supporting Actress, Best Original Script and Best Local Playwright.

In 2000 his play, Inhaling Red won the StageWrite! original play competition in Raleigh, NC. In 1994 he was featured at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. with his sketch comedy piece Obsessions of a Pyromaniac Insurance Salesman.

More notable one-act and full-length scripts he has written include: The American Black Box which was produced by The University of Iowa, Hookin’ For Jesus which was produced in 2002 at the International Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland by New World Stage. It was also produced in 2002 by New World Stage at Humble Pie in Raleigh, NC and at ARTSPACE as part of the Women’s Voices one-act play series.

The Trope which was featured at the Orlando Florida Fringe Festival in 1998. Poor Playwrights' Theatre and Café Copioh in Las Vegas produced it in 1995. Millikin University, Decatur, IL, The University of Wyoming and The Associated Students of Performing Arts also produced it in 1993. In was also produced in 1992 by Stranger Theatre, Laramie, WY. It was the 1993 Northwest Drama Conference script winner, Monmouth, OR and was published in 1992 by The Owen Wister Review.

Lemon 714, which was the 1995 KC/ACTF Region VII showcase winner. It was also showcased at the Rocky Mountain Theatre Association's Festivention in Greeley, CO. It was produced in 1994-95 by The University of Wyoming in Laramie, WY, Eugene, OR and Greeley, CO and was produced in 1995 by Poor Playwright's Theatre in Las Vegas. The play was published in Playwriting, Formula to Form by William Missouri Downs (Harcourt Brace 1997).

Scott was instrumental in developing Glass Dancer for The Names Project, Aids Memorial Quilt display.He interviewed a professional dancer who created stained glass art after being forced into retirement resulting from AIDS. Interview lasted 72 hours and was filled with "needles, pills and strangely frank discussions about insurance, death and intimacy." He developed the script based on the interview and a previous script. In 1994 Patricia Tate, The Wyoming Arts Council and The National Endowment for the Arts produced it.

Scott was the 1994 Region VII Irene Ryan Scholarship Winner (KC/ACTF) for acting and won the Jack Okie award for comedy (University of Wyoming Department of Theatre and Dance). He was a University of Wyoming Scholarship recipient for acting from 1992-94.
